About Austin Wildcats
Developing young athletes through basketball since 1999
Our Story
The Austin Wildcats was established in 1999 as a non-profit organization dedicated to youth basketball training and character building. For over two decades, we've been helping shape kids into young adults through the game of basketball.
Too often, kids are pushed into nonstop games and tournaments before they've had a chance to fall in love with the sport. By age 10 or 11, many want to quit—not because they don't enjoy basketball, but because they've been burned out by pressure and over-scheduling.
At Austin Wildcats, we believe basketball should be a lifelong love. We slow things down, focus on fundamentals, and give kids the space to grow, learn, and enjoy the game. Our goal isn't just to build great players—it's to build kids who want to keep playing, at the park, with friends, and on teams for years to come.
Our program is designed to teach not just how to play basketball, but why the skills matter. By focusing on footwork, ball-handling, passing, shooting form, and defense—along with basketball IQ and life skills—we prepare players for more than a season. We prepare them for a lifetime of enjoying the game.
