Do Wildcats only take the most athletic players?

No, that’s not what the we’re are about. The Austin Wildcats Organization was built to give kids opportunities and has developed Academy Programs for athletes at all levels. We do not cut kids! Tryouts are for program and team placement, not player exclusion.

What Costs Are Involved?

One of our primary goals as an organization is to create a program that is financially manageable. Parents will have the option to pay program fees monthly by with our recurring billing option using Visa or Mastercard. Academy and Select Program fees, tournament fees, and coaching fees are included in the monthly cost. Uniform cost, tournament participant entry frees ($15-$25), travel and lodging costs are not included.

Difference Between Academy and Select Programs?

Because our focus is player development, all ahtletes practice in our Academy Program Model under direction of professional and intern coaches so there is no difference in practice/training. The only difference is the athletes involved in our Select Program are involved in tournament play.

How Many Tournaments Do Select Teams Compete In?

The Select Teams are broken into Regional/National Teams and Local Teams. The Regional Teams will travel outside of Austin to compete. The Local Teams compete in Austin, San Marcos and San Antonio tournaments.

How Do You Handle Multi-Sports Athletes?

We do not believe kids should have to choose “a sport” before they are ready to do so themselves. Kids who play other Select Sports are welcome to tryout for any of our Programs. A Wildcat Select Player even can play on an additional Select Basketball Team with another organization, as long as they suit up as a Wildcat when a conflict arises (and it will).
